How do I volunteer for CONTACT?

  • You must be 18 years old (or achieve 18 prior to manning the phones).
  • You must complete an application (see how to contact us).
  • You must complete the training program (8 three-hour sessions)..
    • (There is a $25.00 charge for the training materials).
  • You must be willing to volunteer 8 to 12 hours per month on the phones.
  • You must have an open mind and a caring heart.

What do I get from CONTACT?

  • We will teach you the skill of "Active Listening," which we guarantee will improve your listening skills (You can practice on your family and amaze them!).
  • Our training program will give you an overview of topics such as: values clarification, techniques of active listening, grief, loss, loneliness, substance abuse, domestic violence, depression and mental illness, self awareness and community resources. (Our program has been used by several local colleges and high schools for peer counseling groups and college Psych. internships).
  • You get the satisfaction of helping others in your community who often have insufficient resources to cope with life's problems (see what they say about us).
